A MESSAGE TO THE PRANCING PONIES COMMUNTY
Dear Prancing Sisters and the Men We Love,
It’s July, and I know many of you have already been planning, prepping your cars, blocking your calendars, some of you for months. That’s exactly why this is so hard to write.
The Prancing Ponies Women’s Car Show 2026 is not going to happen this year.
Due to health reasons, I’m not able to give this year’s show the time and care it deserves, and I refuse to bring you anything less than the Prancing Ponies experience you’ve come to know and love.
Nine years ago, I started this show because women in the automotive world deserved a stage of their own, a place where their cars, their skill, and their community came first. Every year since, I’ve watched that grow into something bigger than I imagined: friendships, a scholarship that’s opened doors for young women, a fashion show, and a Sisterhood. Canceling this year does not undo any of that, and it does not mean the mission stops here.
I am so sorry. Not the polite kind of sorry, the real kind, the kind that comes from knowing how many of you rearranged your lives, and for some of you, your finances, for this.
If you registered you have two options:
A full refund of your registration fee, no questions asked.
Donate your registration fee to the Prancing Ponies Leadership Scholarship, which continues to open doors for young women pursuing leadership and career growth, even in a year without the show.
Simply reply to this email and let us know which option you’d prefer, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Please know this mission continues regardless of which you choose, and either way, I’m deeply grateful you were part of this year’s show.
Thank you for nine years of grace, glamour, and showing up for each other. Thank you for understanding, even when it’s hard.
In appreciation,
Chanterria McGilbra, MBA

Co-Mistress of Ceremonies
Heather, the owner of Monterey Touring Vehicles, holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from U.C. Davis and earned her Ph.D. in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to starting a family in 2002, Heather amassed several patents and authored scientific papers while working in Silicon Valley’s biotech sector. Her passion for cars ignited at 18 when she purchased her first vehicle—a 1978 Volkswagen Beetle convertible. This early love for automobiles inspired her to establish Monterey’s sole privately owned Classic Car Rental company. Today, enthusiasts can select from a diverse fleet of 40 classic and vintage cars to experience along one of the world’s most picturesque coastlines.
Mayor, City of Monterey
Tyller grew up in a military family. His mom served in the Navy for 20 years so they moved around the country and never lived anywhere long enough to grow roots. His military upbringing was a formative experience, and led him to seek long-term connections and community on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula.
For the last eight years, he has worked at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). He also earned a bachelor’s degree from Cal State Monterey Bay in 2013. He is also a graduate of the Master of Business Administration program at NPS.
When he arrived here on the Central Coast, he did not know how much this area would mean to him. He realized that he had finally found a community that accepted and loved him; and he knew he would never want to live anywhere else. He and his partner, Ivan, bought their first home together in Monterey because of the beautiful environment —from the climate and landscape to the amazing community activists they have grown to love. Through his community work on the Monterey Peninsula, Tyller has truly found a lifelong home. His work with fellow community members was fundamental in the decision to run for Monterey City Council.

Automotive Logistics Manager
I attended California State University of Chico, but in my senior, year semester I decided to travel the South Pacific as a crew member on a yacht and learned life lessons along the way. I’ve gone on safari in Africa, met new cousins in Italy, and visited the Czech Republic, Fuji, New Caledonia, Australia, New Zealand and all the little reefs and Islands in between. Lived on both sides of the country, jumped out of airplanes, been a pilot, owned my own tattoo and body piercing studio. Have raced golf carts on the Laguna Seca raceway! Had an old corvette that I loved driving fast and put flow masters on it so people could hear me coming, loved them so much – put them on my Tahoe truck too. Planned Parenthood brought me to the Monterey Peninsula as a clinic manager. After leaving there I worked for the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea for 32 years! My title when I retired was the Community
Activities Event Coordinator, Lead Steward for our General Employee Association and was on the Executive Board of LIUNA (Laborers’ International Union of North America). I enjoy people and assisted event organizers in obtaining permits – such as the Prancing Ponies Car Show. I have always enjoyed the beauty, grace and raw power of the vehicles during car week. Currently I’m living in Carmel Valley with my sweetheart. We enjoy traveling, golfing, gardening, rock hounding, wine making and especially me – bee keeping. But most of all we enjoy having more time to spend with our friends and family.

A Holistic Approach Women and girls are change agents in their communities all over the world. When a woman’s mental health is supported, she is able to make change for herself, her family, and members of her community. For over a decade, we have been funding women’s mental health and empowerment work. We reaffirmed our commitment in 2018 when the founder of kate spade new york died by suicide, and today we continue to integrate mental health into our women’s and girls’ empowerment work globally.
